Help us to help you!

When booking a routine appointment over the phone, our Patient Co-Ordinators will help you to make the most appropriate arrangement. You will be asked to briefly describe the problem you need to discuss; North Somerset patients will be asked to answer a few questions for the eConsult form, this allows the team to…

(a) ensure you are seen urgently if it is deemed necessary or,
(b) ensure you are seen by the correct team member (some procedures such as coil fits are not performed by all members of staff
(c) gives your clinician an idea about the urgency and what you will need to cover so they can look at your relevant records before phoning you.

Please be  rest assured that all staff are governed by the same rules with respect to confidentiality, as are the clinicians – this is to ensure we provide you with the best possible and most appropriate service.

Our GPs and APs are generally only able to deal with one problem at a time, so please prioritise the problem causing you the most concern.

To maintain continuity of care, it is sensible and saves time and avoids confusion for you to ensure you see through a problem you are dealing with alongside the same clinician wherever possible. We ask you to judge the urgency so that when your chosen GP is not immediately available, you could always be offered an appointment with another GP or clinician if necessary.

Nurse appointments

You can make appointments for blood tests, smears, child immunisations etc by calling the practice. If you need an appointment for a diabetic, COPD, heart, or asthma review you may be asked to book a blood test first and then a telephone appointment for a review with the nurse.

Prebooked Saturday appointments

We are now able to offer pre-booked appointments on a Saturday morning for those patients who are unable to attend the practice during the week. Appointments are available with a GP, Nurse and Health Care Assistant. These appointments are for pre-booked routine problems including blood tests. Please ask when booking for Saturday appointments. If you are a North Somerset patient please request a Saturday appointment on your eConsult form.

Urgent problems

If you have an urgent problem at the weekend this service is provided by the Brisdoc out of hours service and can be accessed by ringing NHS 111.
