Routine & Urgent Appointments

We operate an appointment system for all surgeries, which runs throughout the day. You can request to be seen at any of our sites. The GPs offer a mixture of routine, pre-bookable and urgent, same day appointments. We are also working together with other local practices to offer more appointments at weekends and telephone calls in the evening. Speak to a member of the practice team to find out more.

GP appointments are for ten minutes. The GP is generally only able to deal with one problem at a time, so please prioritise the problem causing you the most concern. The Practice also offers GP telephone appointments.

Urgent Appointments

If you need a same day GP appointment you will be given a choice of having a face-to-face appointment or a telephone call.  All urgent cases will be passed to the duty team for that day.

Routine Appointments

For routine problems or ongoing illnesses, please make a routine pre-bookable appointment. Pre-bookable appointments can be booked up to 6 weeks in advance. Afternoon appointments are either pre-bookable or available to book on the day. We aim for you to be seen within 2 weeks for routine appointments, although this may not always be possible if you wish to see a particular GP.

When making a request to book an appointment our front of house teams will always inquire about your symptoms. This is so they can help ensure that you are seen by the most appropriate clinician. When booking an appointment with the doctor or nurse, you will be asked if you would mind telling us briefly the problem. This will help the receptionist a) ensure you are seen urgently if it is deemed necessary – e.g. if you have shortness of breath or, b) seen by the correct team member if requesting a nurse appointment – e.g. specific things such as coil fits are not performed by all members of staff. Please rest assured that all staff are governed by the same rules with respect to confidentiality, as are the clinicians – this is merely to ensure we provide you with the best possible appointment.

Please remember that some of our clinical team work part-time, so are not in the practice every day. View our GP availability here. When your chosen GP is unavailable, you will be offered an appointment with another GP. Some of our GP’s have other commitments and may not always be available, but we will always try to offer you an appointment with another clinician. When appropriate you may also be offered an appointment with one of our very experienced Advanced Practitioners or Community Paramedics.
