GP Job Description

What do you need to feel valued, motivated and supported?

The team at Mendip vale look after patients across a semi-rural location in North Somerset within easy reach of Bristol. We are shortly merging with Riverbank Medical Centre in Worle and Sunnyside Surgery in Clevedon which will take our patient numbers to over 43,000. Our Langford site is an impressive modern facility, purpose built in 2013, with great parking and equipment. Our St Georges site is a wonderful 2012 purpose built surgery with all the facilities to make your working environment enjoyable. We will shortly be combining our Yatton and Congresbury surgeries into a new purpose built superb medical practice with the latest design fit for the provision of modern health care, making our estate one of the newest and brightest in the south west. Riverbank will potentially be moving into the St Georges site which is less than a mile away in 2018.  Sunnyside Surgery is well placed in Clevedon with an attached pharmacy, serving patients living in Clevedon and the surrounding villages of Tickenham, Kenn, Kingston Seymour, Walton in Gordano and Weston in Gordano.

Additional GPs are wanted to join us as we expand  our friendly and innovative practices. There are 14 Partners and 20 Salaried GPs who are fortunate to be working with 6 Advanced Nurse Practitioners and 3 Clinical Pharmacist. We have a team of nurses that are second to none, providing coil and implant fitting, chronic disease review and management alongside core nursing services provision which is underpinned by a valued team of Health Care Assistants.Mendip Vale Medical Practice is a thriving GMS practice with very high QOF achievement using EMIS web as the clinical system. As a sessional funded research practice we enjoy having a team led by Dr Richard Reed undertaking many trials each year, supported by our research nurse he is keen to grow this further and adopt commercial opportunities in the coming months. We are a training practice and whilst there are 5 trainers already we again would love to increase this.

Our service provides safe and effective care to the population across North Somerset. We would like additional  GPs to join us  and there are a number of packages available which are:

Salaried GP - As the starting point, this post would suit newly qualified and those GPs looking to have a more set time table

Associate GP - For those GPs with either more experience, or the top tier of newly qualified (after a shorter introduction period with the practice), with an expectations around taking a responsibility such as GP Trainer, or leading on a sub section of a QoF area.

Partner (non-equity) – For experienced GPs looking to make to move from a salaried role before becoming a Senior Partner (equity). We are looking for GPs with well-developed and strong medical acumen who can support the business strategy and help us grow and develop our business. With an expectations around taking additional responsibilities such as GP Trainer, leading on a QoF area and supporting junior colleagues with their workload.

We are a high-achieving and well-organised practice. We embrace innovative ways of working and along with our Multi-Disciplinary team approach to care provision with our ANPs leading on acute visiting as part of the dedicated on-call Duty team.
